Design Notes on Skills
We considered making an "Adventuring" skill that covers knowledge and experience of anticipating hazards and obstacles, such as what kinds of traps will occur and what kinds of monsters might be encountered. We decided against that because we don't want such competency to be concentrated in a single expert character. Instead, a mix of skills such as Lore, Investigation, Perception, Crafts, Athletics are required. We do want overall adventuring experience to be usable, but we decided it should be an Aspect or property of the band not an individual character. That way, the mechanics of adventuring experience always benefit the characters who are already best at the particular tasks.
We want to make it possible for a character who "knows their treasure." This is done through powers that let the character substitute one skill for another under narrow circumstances.
