This stunt confers two benefits:

  1. When you are wielding a shield and your opponent's Attack roll ties your Defense, that's treated as a miss. Your opponent neither gets a Boost nor does any damage with that attack.
  2. If your shield is larger than a buckler, you can use Fighting to Defend against ranged attacks.
