Adventure Band is the working title of a fantasy RPG from Shewstone Publishing. It is currently under early development.
Open Game Content
The rules for Adventure Band are free to use, modify, republish, and sell under the Open Game License version 1.0a. The Drintera setting is Product Identity owned by Shewstone Publishing LLC.
Setting
The setting for Adventure Band is an original fantasy world called Drintera. It's a world where adventurers explore lost cities, perform secret missions for lords and monarchs, and eventually become champions of the gods themselves.
Phase 1
Phase 1 develops the Drintera setting and makes a set of targeted changes to the 5E SRD. Think of Adventure Band Phase 1 as a new fantasy world combined with professionally developed house rules for 5E.
Phase 1 began in June 2021. It's fully compatible with 5E. You can play Adventure Band Phase 1 without ever moving on to Phase 2.

Phase 2
Adventure Band Phase 2 is a complete redesign of characters, spells, and creatures to support our design goals. Phase 2 is not compatible with 5E. If you have favorite character classes, species, or spells in 5E, we don't guarantee those will be available in Phase 2. It's a different game, designed for players who want a different experience than they get from other major RPG brands.
Design Goals
Updated June 2022
- Easy to learn
- Easy to GM
- Fast playing: quick to resolve players' turns
- Based on Fate Condensed instead of 5E game engine, for the following reasons:
- Invites improvisation
- Flavor comes from Aspects not from new mechanics
- Flexible mechanics simplify GM's job
- Give every PC something equally effective to do in battle, every round. Spells will have to be reduced in power to let the Warrior and Scout match spellcasters' effectiveness.
- Emphasize teamwork and provide mechanical support for teamwork
- Playable with or without electronic tabletop
- Supports plugging into a homebrew or published setting. Setting is not baked into the rules.
